Hello, as you might have already read my name is Hemali and I have just finished my first year of studying Management with Marketing. So, with that said welcome to my first blog post!
Currently I am on summer break which means I have more time to myself, usually I would look forward to reading though this doesn’t come easily as I am very picky when it comes to books. It probably takes me longer to find the book I want to read than the time spent reading it. At the moment, I am scouting for a new book to read but I wanted to share the last three books I have read.
The Ghost Bride by Yangtze Choo
This was an interesting book the premises of the story is of Li Lan a girl living in the late nineteenth century Malayasia, who has to come to terms with marrying the deceased son of a wealthy family. The book was very interesting; the first chapter was particularly well written. This is the first book that I have read that follows the character during life and death, which was genuinely exciting. When combined with the aspects of religious tradition it was made very engaging.
Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage
Tsukuru was abandoned by his closest friends after high school and we go on his journey to find out why. This book managed to keep the simplest day to day routines interesting. There were a few odd things in the book that happened that weren’t vital to the plot line but they managed to make the book feel real.
The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga
This book was difficult to read, the protagonist in my eyes was not a hero or anyone with very good morals. Instead he tore himself away from traditional expectations and did whatever it took to achieve what he wanted regardless of the consequences. Not supporting the main character made for an interesting read.
If you have read any of the books above let me know what you think of them, or if you have any recommendations feel free to leave a comment down below.
