Careers fair is around the corner, the first date is on the 17/10/2018 and the second is on the 18/10/2018 and if you are studying law a more specialised event will be held on the 24/10/2018. But don’t panic if you don’t feel prepared, there is still time.
What happens in the careers fair?
Employers will come in order to increase awareness of their organization and to promote company opportunities such as Graduate Roles, Summer Placements, Year in Industry and Volunteering. You can go along to find out more about theses opportunities and ask questions regarding the application process or ways to demonstrate that you are a qualified candidate for their program.
How to be prepared?
To be best prepared it would be best to know what companies will be present on either the first or second day, this gives you time to do your research. If you search ‘CarrerFairPlus’ on the App store you can download an app that gives you this information. You just have to select ‘Student’ then the university. This is great as you can also star the employers that you are most interested in visiting. To save time the app also gives you a map of where the stalls will be held.
How to make the most of it?
It would be a good idea to look out for any events that these companies may be doing within the university for example; Accenture are hosting a special event that will not only give you the chance to discover the power of your mind with a strengths workshop but also to look further at what you may know about the ways of working. In addition, you will have extensive networking opportunities throughout the evening. Attending events like this is a great way to stand out and truly understand what the employers are looking for.
