This weekend I went to Exmoor with the University Hiking Society. Here at Leicester, the hiking society is quite active, normally going on day walks to countryside every couple of weeks, and one weekend trip per term, and this year I’ve just started to get involved. I’m having a great time, and it’s lovely to see lots of different parts of the country, get into the hills and also meet loads of new people. We normally get quite a lot of walking done, and see some beautiful scenery, but unfortunately, the weather can get in the way of any plans that have been made.
You’ve probably been aware of the flooding around the country, and Exmoor has definitely had its share of the rain. We spent over 2 hours finding our Sunday morning walk, due to hitting patches of flooding, and on the Saturday our walk got interrupted by the constant mud and puddles on the moors, however overall it was still a really good weekend. It was really enjoyable to do something so completely different to a normal week at uni. Now I just need to keep on top of my work, as Christmas seems approaching far too fast!
