I had my first graduate assessment centre yesterday. For graduate schemes, once you have managed to get past the minefield of online maths, English and personality tests, the seemingly endless application forms and the terrifying first interviews, then you get the opportunity to attend one of these days where you do a selection of activities to check your suitability for the role. Knowing that there are so many applicants for just a small number of jobs is really stressful and some of the activities, such as the role plays, where you have to pretend to have a meeting with a senior manager, are far more difficult than I expected. Still, after the practice of a few initial interviews, I think I did almost as well as I could have done, so I can only wait and see.
I’m afraid, I’ve been so worried about this assessment centre, that I haven’t really had time to do anything very interesting, but I shall be back next week with tales of the Leicester comedy festival from this weekend.
