Hello! I’m Lois and I’ll be this years blogger for the Maths Department. I’m going into my third year on the BSc Mathematics with a year in the USA degree. I thought I would do a little post so you could get to know me (seeing as you’ll probably be seeing a lot of me this year!). So without further ado, here’s some fun facts about me:
Why did you choose Maths?
For those of you who tell people you love Maths, I’m sure you get a LOT of funny looks and a lot of “Ergh I HATE Maths”. I chose Maths because I’ve always been good at it and it’s a very objective subject: there’s either right or wrong, and that’s what I love about Maths.
What is your dream profession?
Singer, Actress, Wedding Planner, Investment Banker, Property Developer, Professional Traveller. The list is endless. I don’t want to be stuck in one job for my whole life. I want to go out and do and see as much as I can. So if I were to sum up my dream profession, I guess it would be to be an all-round badass (I’m probably not allowed to say that but, oh well).
Do you have any hidden talents?
Unfortunately I don’t think I do. Although I do make some pretty awesome cat sounds.
What is one accomplishment you’re most proud of?
I’ve just come back from a study abroad year in the USA (hence the title). I spent 9 months at Utah State University and 2.5 months travelling after. It was the greatest experience of my life so far, so I encourage everyone who has the opportunity to go on a study abroad, DO IT! You won’t regret it.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
YouTube beauty and DIY videos. I watch them way more than I should.
How did people describe you in your year book?
This made me chuckle. I was sorting out my things a few days ago (my mum was sick of having all my stuff scattered around the house) and I came across my high school year book. I was described as the ‘Biggest Drama Queen’. No idea where they got that from. Well, actually, I do.
What’s on your bucket list?
If I were to list everything you’d be here all day, so I’ll just list a few of the main things: Swim with sharks, Visit all 7 wonders of the world, Build my own house, Go to all 196 countries, Be a linguistic genius, and Have a family.
Well, that’s all really! However, this blog isn’t just about me. You’re probably here because you want to get a little more information on what life is like at Leicester and without you, I wouldn’t be here! So whenever you have anything to ask, general or specific, please feel free to leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as I can!
