Although I’m always willing to try new things, I’ll admit that I am a little bit rigid when it comes to my eating habits, so last week I thought I would try something new – Turkish food. It seems after the stress of finishing a degree had slowly dispersed, I began to reward myself (like a well behaved canine) with endless plates of food.
As a previous vegetarian, I have never, ever tried any type of kebab. To be honest, my only knowledge of kebabs was the kind that a rather intoxicated individual may prefer to binge on after a night out – as you can imagine, this didn’t tantalise me in the slightest. However, after playing 21 questions with the Turkish restaurant waitress, I finally understood that were different type of kebabs – the ones that were served at this restaurant in Leicester were amazing! I went for a chicken yoghurt kebab and it was beautiful, I’ve never been so full in my entire life.
One of the things that I adore about Leicester is the endless amount of food that is on offer – this is somehing that I will definitely miss when I return down south where the world culture appears to be slightly lacking.
There are so many restaurants in Leicester that provide beautiful cuisine, with recipes brought to you from around the world. So, if you get a chance, take a stroll and just eat somewhere you’ve never been before, it’s worth the experience.
