Obviously every year, the UK Christmas Number 1 single is a big deal.
I’m a religious X factor viewer and have watched pretty much every season since it started (quite sad I know.) I therefore always love it when the X factor winner’s single is Christmas number one.
However, it was really nice that this year the Christmas number one was won by the NHS choir -singing their mash up of “bridge over troubled water” and “fix you”. Obviously, with all of the uproar about the junior doctor contracts and protests going on, I feel as if morale around the NHS has greatly reduced, and the pride of being a part of the NHS has become dampened to a certain degree. Therefore it’s amazing how the NHS choir have put together not only this lovely song, but also the music video, which showcases the amazing work all of the NHS staff do everyday. I’m still a firm believer that the healthcare system we have in this country is an amazing one -providing free healthcare service for all is incredible and not something we should be giving up on.
