I can’t believe how time passes by so quickly. Christmas and New Year’s Eve went by with both of my kids sick. Now they are fully recovered. But this is not a blog about my personal stuff (not strictly :)), so let’s get down to business.
And business it is. I have to complete a 5000-word long essay by 10 February. Unfortunately one of my ebooks is on another computer which I can access only infrequently. It is DRM-protected and I can’t transfer it, because I can no longer find my Vendor ID. Oh, the challenges of modern times! But at least I am progressing.
And I have launched two other initiatives which will help me grow professionally:
– I am now a member of the editorial team at Fortepan. Fortepan is a Hungarian picture archive with over 30,000 photos, showing everyday life, events etc. related to Hungary, but there are also pictures from Berlin, Poland , China etc. It is a private archive which is quickly growing. It is located at http://www.fortepan.hu My responsibility is to assist in creating a thesaurus and keywording images. I am doing that in both Hungarian and English
– I am now a volunteer at the Hungarian Postal Museum. This will be my 2nd museum experience. The first one occurred in 1997. As a freshly graduated librarian I was employed by the Hungarian Museum of Transport for two days, before I was fired by the museum’s director, claiming I am stealing intellectual property from the library. No one ever explained how I can do that, but that was the reason.
