It has been quite a few weeks since I did anything in regards to my PhD. And this will be the topic of this blog entry.
Back in November, when I started my blog, I mentioned that I am now over 40, have a career and I try to find time for my PhD thesis. It proved to be more difficult than I imagined.
I was over the moon, when I got accepted to the University of Leicester. My dream is to be a University professor and this was a very important step. And then I completed my first position paper in March. This was the first step on my way to complete a PhD thesis. We set up a schedule with my consultant professor and part of that schedule involves a speech during the PhD Research Week at the end of June. I was excited and was looking forward to my return to Leicester.
And then came the nitty-gritty details. I have two small kids. I have a job. I have a lot of jobs actually 🙂 For weeks, PhD was on the back burner. Shame on me.
But I am happy to report, that I bounced back. I am back on track. I will talk to my consultant professor tomorrow. I have started reading books. Reading books will be my main assingment during the next few months. I have to be totally immersed in Museum Studies. To that end I received a huge box of books from the Department and I am very grateful for that.
I will write more blogposts in the near future. I will tell you a lot about the books I read. At least that’s what I am planning to do.
It still feels very weird to be sitting in a room in Balatonalmádi or Székesfehérvár and think about my PhD thesis. Expressing my concerns in a blog helps, so thanks for listening.
