On one hand I don’t have much to report as there is no progress in my PhD. I did not have any field trips recently, I am not writing anything. But – you know there is always a “but”
About a month ago I was sitting in front of a computer. I spent three hours trying to write a paragraph. Not a page, not a chapter – a paragraph. I failed, miserably. Should I be worried? After my supervision, I don’t fret. This happens to everybody – it is just new to me. It seems I was lucky so far that I did not have writer’s block – yet.
Now I have a lot of ideas in my head. Because I returned to reading. Reading a lot. I learnt about museum architecture, popular culture in museums, handling of complex objects in museums and that sort of thing. Now I need to sit back in front of the computer and just do it! (Will keep you posted how this turned out).
Last time I was here, I wrote you about my impending trip to Italy to the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance classic car show. Let me tell you it was a great weekend, lots of fun and new experiences. And it also provided some materials for my thesis. I hope to incorporate these into my text soon.
And I have some exciting news to report. At the beginning of 2016, the Hungarian Museum of Technology and Transport got a new director, who brought in young talents. The museum building is about to be demolished and a brand new museum will be erected in the City Park in Budapest. Unfortunately this project was derailed by bad communication and the appearance of shady bodyguards and henchmen at the building site, beating up innocent protesters. It has got nothing to do with the Museum or its new leaders though. I will not care about politics, I will focus on my role, which is a special advisor position assisting the development of the new land transportation exhibition. On one hand I am super excited, on the other hand I am super nervous :)!
