Our uni hoodies we ordered finally arrived WOOP!
Uni give you the chance to order polo shirts and hoodies in an assortment of colours, complete with the University logo and ‘Operating Department Practice’, so we can rep up the ODP’s. Sooo i got one in grey and its really comfy.
On the other hand, I’ve just started my paediatric placement and WOW… kids manage to make crying look cute too lol. Kids and Adult anaesthetics is very different and getting down to their level to communicate and cooperate with them is easier said than done, but practice makes perfect. Lots of disctraction therapy is used to distract the child whilst the anaesthetist tries to subtly insert a cannula into their hand. Ipads, toys, rattles, dummies, storybooks…you name it.
It’s really interesting seeing the different aproaches used with each patient, as some tolerate being in theatre better than others. Time to write lots of reflections I guess. (If you know, you know)
