I just moved back into my flat in Leicester yesterday and met my new flatmates who I think I’m going to get along with just fine. It pretty much took the whole day to travel from Manchester, put away my stuff and buy some food/all the things I forgot to bring with me. The train journey was a real pain because I had to take such heavy bags with me (I should’ve brought along more stuff to the flat when a car was available to me) but I got to my flat in one piece.
A quick note on travelling by train actually: looking for advance tickets online a few days before you travel is usually a good method for travelling cheaply. I got my (single) ticket for £12 with my 16-25 railcard, which is considerably cheaper than buying an “off peak” or “anytime” ticket at the last minute, as long as you can commit to a certain time. It’s not for everyone but I find it a good way to travel and it’s more pleasant than a coach journey.
Tomorrow is registration for the second year of my degree which is exciting. This year we’re going to be doing our lab experiments in groups of 3 all year rather than in pairs like last year and we get to pick who we want to work with. Thankfully I already know who I’m going to be with and I’m hoping we will do pretty well as a group. I have already been sent a digital copy of my timetable but it doesn’t mean much to me until I know what all the course codes mean and which lab blocks I will be on. I’ll update you on my timetable and what topics we’re covering in a later post.
For now there’s not much else to report on. I’m looking forward to posting on here more regularly when second year kicks in properly!
