I enjoy going for walks. I think it is a great way to to clear your mind from stress and just the general nonsensical thoughts your head seems to fill up with from everyday life. I don’t fully plan where my walk will take me, but there are a few places I like to regularly walk around. Whilst on a walk I like to reflect on what I have been up to in the pass week or so, and maybe even ponder on what I plan to do in the future. I like to think about some of the things that are causing me to stress, and I take some time to reconsider whether these things are important enough to stress about, and what changes (and it normally only requires small changes) I need to make to reduce the stress caused by those things.
Anyway I think that is enough for my motivation for going on walks, I now wish to tell you about my favourite place to walk, and maybe my favourite place in Leicester, Abbey Park.
Abbey Park is about a 40 minute walk from where I live (I live pretty much next to uni), but I’m sure, if you don’t enjoy to walk as much as I do, there is probably a bus. The main reason I like the park so much is just that it is very peaceful; the ponds, streams, and trees flourish with wildlife. There is also plenty to do in the park such as: boating in the boating lake; seeing animals in the petting zoo including goats, owls, parrots, and many more; going on the miniature railway; and seeing the abbey ruins.
Abbey Park is one of my favourite places in Leicester, and one I think not enough students know about, so if you live in Leicester I definitely recommend checking it out!
