The School of History, Politics and International Relations have a fantastic opportunity for 2nd year students to participate in the ‘Peacebuilding in Colombia‘ Summer School at the University of Los Andes, Bogotá from Monday 11 June to Friday 29 June 2018.
The course is taught in English and combines lectures and seminars taught by academics with educational site visits that deliver practical knowledge of peacebuilding and post-conflict development. Last year, students met with President Santos’ Communication team, and visited the UN Development Project, Colombian Congress and visited the demobilisation zone with former FARC combatants accompanied by UN representatives.
The full cost of the course, accommodation and activities is £2900 (excluding flights – approx £600-£700 and travel insurance – £20-£30).
If students are interested, they will be expected to apply for the Santander Travel Grant by May 1 2018 (award £650). Bursaries will be available to help meet the costs of the course fees for eligible students who have a good academic record (If you’ve skipped to many lectures, your chances do slim!). The School particularly welcomes applications from students that are registered with Leicester OnTrack, AccessAbility or those not currently participating in a Study Abroad programme.
To apply, contact Zakia Shiraz at firstname.lastname@example.org for an application form. Forms should be received no later than 12noon on Thursday 1 March.
