The Easter holidays are upon us. For most students, that means 5 weeks of sitting around, seeing family, and contemplating revision. For the final year students, it’s definitely a different story! I’ve been revising solidly for 3 days now and I’m already bored. But, I know that in the long run, it’s going to pay off.
Aside from revising, I’ve also been making some very important decisions and filling in some very important application forms. I have decided to take the plunge and am in the process of applying to study a Masters Degree in Forensic Psychology, here at the University of Leicester. I really haven’t been sure about my future until the last few weeks but I now know that I really want to follow a career in Forensics. Now, I know what you’re all thinking and no, it’s not all CSI!
Forensic Psychology is applying psychology in a criminal and legal context, looking at how to treat offenders with addictions and psychological disorders as well as implementing programmes to help them become rehabilitated back into their communities. It’s a fascinating application of all that I have learnt in my undergraduate degree. Fingers crossed, I’ll be accepted!
I’ve also applied for a job over the summer, 3 weeks working with young people on a social action project…I really hope I’ll get it, because it looks like a great way to spend my summer!
I should probably get back to my revision…I’ll keep you posted on how it’s going!
