And it really is. I had five incredible days there with some of my bezzies. The first day included a walking tour around all the main sights and a cycle trip around the island in one of these three-man bikes:
During this day we worked out that we had walked/cycled 14 miles in total so not surprising that we were practically crawling back to our hostel by the end of it!
On another day we went to these amazing turkish baths with about 20 different kinds (hot/medium/cold, medicinal, eucalyptus, inside/outside etc) as well as various saunas and steam rooms… sooooo good. We also checked out a few quirky bars and cafe’s and everything was so cheap that we ended up having all our meals and drinks out. A really cool place was the ‘Alice in Wonderland Tearooms’ which had hundreds of different flavoured teas, coffees and other drinks and was uniquely decorated with beanbags dotted around, bunkbeds, ropes to climb up, little dens with tiny doors, illusory mirrors… probably not sounding too exciting by my description but honestly amazing. On one evening we also checked out a club that has been voted the best in the world by Lonely Planet.. I wouldn’t say it was necessarily that good, but the dj was brilliant and we all had a good dance! On the final night we had a really fun night out to celebrate both my 21st and to say goodbye to my friend who has now moved to Slovakia for a term.
All in all, a great holiday and a really fun way of ending the summer. I head back up to Leicester next Friday and although I will be sad that summer is over, I feel refreshed and able to start working again.
