Hello guys! I’ve just got back from a family holiday on the Island of Kos, in Greece! To be honest, I enjoyed visiting all the ancient sites and temples way more than sunbathing on the beach. What can I say, lying motionless in the sun 24/7 gets on my nerves! Anyway, it was an amazing experience and being in that beautiful country made me think of my Greek friends, whom I met during my first year!
I absolutely love having friends from all over the world, and I’m lucky enough to have many! I met some of them during my travels, but I’ve actually found myself literally surrounded by international students last year, in Leicester!
I’ve met most of them thanks to Volleyball, which apparently isn’t a big thing in England. The whole advanced team last year was made up of girls and guys from tons of different countries! This of course made things more complicated, because of all the differences in game schemes and roles, but at the same time made it all more interesting and instructive!
Of course there are some International Societies, specifically for students who want to hang out with people from their country (not really my case), or learn another language, or simply get in touch with other cultures. A lot of the members are also current or ex Erasmus students. But even if you don’t join those you can’t help but bump into international students!
I guess University of Leicester provides a highly multicultural environment, and I love it for that! I strongly believe that meeting people from different countries is a great way to learn something new about the world and yourself. And this adds a lot not only to my experience as a foreigner, but also as a student!
And I really hope other people share this feeling as well. 🙂
I leave you here a picture from my holiday!
Nice article. Hope you had a great time.
