Being back is amazing, I enjoyed my time home but I forgot what it meant to be so busy! Between gym, appointments with the Career Centre and attempts to have some free time, revision is feeling slower than ever. I know I will panic soon, especially considered I’m a week away from my first exam.
But for now, I want to tell you about the Sports Awards.
Almost a week ago, on the 7th, they held the Sports Awards, which is an awarding ceremony for all the sport clubs and societies of the University. I absolutely love it, I went last year as well and just couldn’t wait for this year! The thing is, it’s a very fancy night. All the people dress up, you are offered a glass of champagne on your way in, there is jazz music playing live (one of my teammates sang with them, she was amazing!) and waiters serve you dinner at your club’s table. The dinner includes three types of wine (unfortunately I’m not a fan, but I guess most people are!). There’s also an open bar, and professional photographers outside. It’s just so fancy, I love it!
The actual awards are a bit more tedious, it’s just people being called on stage to received prizes, but you can still have fun watching the other teams celebrate their victories! This year both Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Team won the Local League, so we were all invited on stage and received a certificate and a small trophy. It was great, and it’s such a shame that we came 4th in the BUCS league (for Colleges and Universities). It was upsetting, but hey, hopefully we’ll get there next year!
Now I gotta go do some revision, before I go back to campus: the gym offers a boxing course on Tuesdays starting today, and maybe one day I won’t be interested in working out to deal with stress… but today is not that day.
