Three exams down, two more to go. And the weather is miserable again, but at least that’s an excuse to drink loads of tea and revise from under a blanket. I hope the sun will come back after exams, I keep planning days out with people because I literally cannot wait for summer!
Also, I’m trying to get a job, since 4 months are a long time, I might as well do something with them. My idea would be to work as an Activity Leader at a summer camp, since I’ve tried to apply for informal English teaching jobs in summer, but didn’t qualify because I’m not a native speaker. You see, it doesn’t matter that I have the highest European Language qualification… I think I’ll apply for the Teaching qualification, we’ll see what they have to say about that (I’m a bit bitter, sorry). Anyway, tips if you’re thinking of applying for a similar experience this summer: apply really early. I started looking around in April, and I wish I had waken up a lot sooner!
Anyway, I finally had the chance to fully experience the Career Centre at uni, and I have to say I’m really happy with it! I booked two appointments, one for a CV check and one for a Cover Letter check. I booked them with the same person, which was really good because it made me feel like they actually understood what I needed and gave me tips for it. Not to mention that the check was great, I got to fix a lot of things that I didn’t think mattered that much, like the order of my previous experiences and the style of the narration. The girl who helped me was so nice, her name was Maxine (I don’t know if I should write down names, but hey she was awesome and deserves it!).
Now I just need to keep my fingers crossed, because with no previous experience it’s not gonna be easy. Hey, at least I’m trying, therefore no one can criticise me! 😉
