Something I’ve kept from you in my previous posts is the fact that, on the 7th of July, I’ve been assigned my dissertation supervisor! 😀 This means that while I was working in Leicester, I could also start collecting some information I can use to design my dissertation experiment. I got some books from the library and for now I’m just focusing on some background reading.
What I truly need are ideas, feasible ideas, so that once I’m back to university (and it won’t be long now) I can get started! After I ask my supervisor for his opinion and suggestions, of course. I’m so happy about my dissertation supervisor! He gave us lectures on the Biological Basis of Brain Functioning last term. I truly enjoyed his lectures, and he was one of the lecturers I had actually talked to about my dissertation. I’m interested in working with fears and phobias, and since I’m seriously considering pursuing a career in the treatment of anxiety disorders, a related dissertation would be a great start!
I’ll keep you posted on my dissertation, it’s something I’m already very nervous about, despite the excitement. For now, just reading and writing down notes is helping me get back into a more focused attitude, which is good considering how busy I will be in October. And this year I can’t afford to be caught unprepared! Reading, learning, writing, it has to be as good as it was in June. Like that’s an easy task! Oh well, fingers crossed!
