Today is the day that we, the United Kingdom, vote on whether we want to remain in the European Union or leave it (I hope everyone knows this already because, if not, where ya been, guys?!). I’m firmly on the side of remaining for unity, for inclusion, for better job prospects, for worker’s rights, for women’s rights, and for human rights, but that’s not why I’m writing this. Quite frankly, the majority of people involved in this referendum should be utterly ashamed of the absolute shambles and scaremongering mess it has become, and I totally understand how their tactics could have the opposite effect and actually put people off of voting.
However, I am, and always have been, a firm believer in using your vote, no matter which side you’re on. People fought and died to give us- especially women- the right to be heard so we cannot let that be for nothing. Don’t sit around today leaving it up to other people to decide your future. As a citizen of this country you have a right to have a say in what happens to it (and also no right to complain if the outcome is not what you wanted when you didn’t go out and vote!). It takes 5 seconds to put an x in a box*- and I’m sure every single one of you reading this has dedicated way more than 5 seconds for things not nearly as important as this!
Have your voices heard today. Use your vote.
*If you’ve registered to vote you should have received a polling card telling you where your nearest polling station is. If you have lost your polling card or not received it (but have registered) then you can enter you postcode here and you can find all the info you need from there!
