Making The Most Out Of Unitemps

Last week, I had the great opportunity to partake in the University Prospectus Photoshoot. I applied for the position on Unitemps and was chosen to do the shoot along with other students from the University. We had a photographer, creative director, stylist and make up artist on set with us. And honestly, aside from the blistering hot weather we were shooting in for close to 4 hours, it was probably one of my favourite Uni memories so far!

The day went as follows:

• Met the guys and girls I was shooting with for lunch at Oadby Student Village.
• The stylist and make up artist then dressed us up in some clothes and put some make up on us
• We then headed over to one of the accommodations and did a kitchen shoot – we had to act like we were having breakfast and were told to talk about something we were passionate about (I talked about aliens)
• Then we did some outside shots with some bikes and other props. This was particularly fun as we did something called “A and B Shooting” where we did a lot of walking around in different formations.
• Finally we did another kitchen/room shoot! I got partnered up with one of the girls and we had to do some photos of us “getting ready” for a night out
• We finished for the day and took a group selfie;

Although we were only together for 5 hours, it was a great opportunity to meet and make friends with other students and  also make some money along the way. Plus, it was something I’d never done before! I had worked with Unitemps as a mentor and events worker in the past but this was just a completely different experience! It felt more like a day out with friends rather than a job. From what I saw, we got some pretty good shots to use for next year’s prospectus too!

From working at University Open Days to becoming an EMentor to getting work experience as an Admin in the Summer – there are so many great options if you want to earn some extra money or if you want to build up your CV! Tomorrow, I will be rejoining the guys from the shoot to film a video advert for the University! With this heatwave, it should be a pretty interesting day so…wish me luck!
