Even though in my mind semester one finished the day we broke up for Christmas, it officially ended on the last day of exams.
I have now submitted my first ever pieces of academic/university essays as well as sitting my first ever university exam, all very exciting things. The one really weird thing about all of this so far is the amount of free time I seem to have! Including the two weeks exam period, I have had six weeks weeks of no university and to be honest I’m glad it’s coming to an end.
As someone who enjoys a routine, these past six weeks have been a complete mess! So, I do look forward to getting a set sleeping pattern in place. Some thing else I’m looking forward to is getting back to critically exploring the things we take for granted. Last semester it was the cyber world, that we are so immersed in, as well as questioning who really has power.
This semester it’s all about crime, consumption in terms of identity and how society has transformed and is constantly evolving around us. This is what I love about sociology, the fact the we are armed to unpick and challenge the known and the common things we take for granted – it really gives you another perspective on how to look at things.
