“4 weeks till Christmas Faheema” is what I keep telling myself as soon as I wake up. I was under the illusion that second year would not be that different to first year but the first half of semester one was an eye opener to say the least.
Not saying that first year is a time when students are able to slack, but knowing that first year had no impact on your degree classification worked as a safety net (for me anyway). I definitely took everything that was thrown at us in first year with a very very relaxed attitude. I guess that was great then however, now I’m regretting doing so. Second year is stressful, no sugar coating it. I’m sure third years would say that second year was a breeze, but at this moment and time stress levels are rising.
I started the year with a relaxed attitude but now deadlines are fast approaching, he workload seems to have increased quite a bit in comparison to first year and the workload and knowing whatever work I hand in now counts towards my degree, it’s all setting in. This is real!
But on the hand, second year is great because we get to shape and mould our degree by being able to choose what modules we take. I must say, so far the one optional module we get in the first semester is the one I am enjoying the most.
So, as much as second year can get stressful it is fun and the support from course mates is amazing.
4 weeks till the holidays!
