Merry Christmas!!! I hope you are enjoying the festivities!
As you may know, I chose to come home for holidays which is a decision I’m happy I made. I do truly miss the warm weather and I could have spent the time travelling but like I mentioned in my last post, I can’t imagine not being with my family during this time. Plus, I don’t think I’m missing out on travelling too much as I did take a trip to Sweden earlier this month and visited Swedish Lapland.
Even though I am very happy to be home and stuff my face with British chocolate, cheap Mcflurry’s and my mum’s home cooking, I initially did struggle to adjust to being at home again. I’d forgotten how to cope with the cold weather and spent many evenings snuggled in numerous blankets in an attempt to keep warm. However, after visiting Sweden, especially Lapland which is much colder, I’m coping better with the cold.
I do find myself missing Australia and I’m looking forward to going back. When I was over there is was constantly comparing home to Australia and honestly, I couldn’t bear to think that I could ever prefer to live in Australia than the UK. But I really do miss my life in Australia, the freedom I had, the friends I made and the warm weather of course. Now I realise that I might actually find it difficult to adjust when I finish my year abroad in the summer.
I know I’m going to be sad when I eventually have to leave Australia in the summer but I’ve still got plenty of time to make the most of it. Hopefully, I will make plans to travel before the next semester starts.
Bring on semester 2!
