Hello! I’m now currently on half term, which I’m excited about as I feel a break is well and truly needed! The last couple of weeks I’ve been studying at the University as usual, had one exam but most of them are in November and December after the holidays, wish me luck! 🙂 and last Friday I had an eventful day, the best way to welcome the half term I think!
So, I started the morning at the local supermarket (which luckily for me is a 2mins walk from my residence!) where I bought some ingredients for some cooking I planned to do in the evening. After that, I met my South-Korean friend and we went to the University Cafeteria and had a good lunch, and your first meal there is free with the student card so it was a very successful meal! Then, we made our way into the centre of Avignon where inside one of the restaurants is a cosy cinema, it has 2 rooms and the seats are so comfortable!! We watched a film called, ‘L’École buissonnière’, it was all in French with no subs but I loved it! I never got lost and followed the whole film, I was really happy to have experienced being in a French cinema and to have watched a very traditional yet new French film. After the 2h of watching, a smoothie was needed and Avignon has two coffee shops which do great smoothies! One is called ‘French coffee shop’ (the one we went to that day) and the other ‘Milk’, I personally love the peach or peach and raspberry smoothies and also the cookies and muffins!
Finally to end the evening I went round to my friend’s house and many of us international students had gathered together to cook something from our country! I cooked some Yorkshire puddings for the first time ever and they turned out pretty good I think, everyone enjoyed them!!
I think it’s good to keep yourself busy on your year abroad, to try and make friends with people from other countries whilst of course practicing your language skills! I will be back soon with another blog!
