I’m now back in England again after an eventful year abroad, I’ve really enjoyed living in France and Spain! I would recommend doing a year abroad to everyone,it has allowed me to find out more about myself, given me the opportunity to develop my language skills and most importantly it gave me the chance to call another city home.
The last trip that I went on was quite spontaneous. My Japanese friend and I decided to do a colour run in Valladolid. I’d heard of them before (I think there was one in Leicester actually) but I had never had the chance to try it out.
We went to the ‘Holilife’ one and the run i’d say was more of a walk but that made it better for me. The event evolved more around a party as there was a stage with music and a DJ. We walked through different colour sections and every time we walked through one, we’d get splattered with the colour of that section. It was super messy but fun!
After that we spent the rest of the day exploring the city. Valladolid is North of Salamanca and not that famous as a holiday destination. I didn’t have high expectations of the city but I loved it! It’s very family orientated, for example there are lots of playing areas for kids. I really liked the main park, ‘Campo Grande’, which is famous for its birds. I love nature so for me that was definitely the best part of the city, although the plaza mayor was interesting too. I like it how in basically every city there’s a plaza mayor (main square) and each one is unique. I’ll attach some photos below of our last little day trip in Valladolid.
